COOPERATION BETWEEN MUNICIPALITIES AND INDUSTRY

Yesterday, I attended the Congress on Climate-Neutral Municipalities at the trade fair in Freiburg to learn about the current state of future-oriented urban planning.
Ms. Christine Buchheit, Mayor for Environment, Youth, Schools, and Education/City of Freiburg, provided a very good overview of planning in Freiburg during her introductory lecture at the congress.
Ms. Thekla Walker, Minister for Environment, Climate, and Energy in Baden-Württemberg, was represented by Dr. Michael Münter, Director General and Head of Department at the Ministry for Environment, Climate, and Energy Baden-Württemberg.
Dr. Münter spoke very clearly about the disastrous amendment to the heating law by our federal government.
During the day, I was able to have many conversations with various energy planners, grid planners, and representatives of municipalities.
In conclusion, it remains clear to me that industrial companies in the various municipalities should be much more intensively involved in energy planning. Currently, important elements are unfortunately omitted in surveys within the sectors. The central question would be: Over what period is which form of energy needed and in what scale? In my experience, economic planning is not possible without this information. Grid and connection design, storage design, and sensible future planning require good data!
